JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo instructed all ranks of the Riau Regional Police to respond quickly if they find hotspots or fire points for forest and land fires (karhutla) in Bumi Lancang Kuning.
According to Sigit, the swift response to extinguish the fires was necessary to prevent the fires from spreading. He issued this instruction after receiving a presentation on forest and land fire management at the Pandawa VIP Building at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base in Riau on Thursday (July 24, 2025).
"Indeed, if we look at several efforts that have actually been made from the beginning, starting from prevention, education, outreach, and then of course efforts to continuously activate the applications we have to be able to continuously monitor and, of course, we hope for a quick response when hotspots are detected," said Sigit.
In his presentation, Sigit stated that the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and other relevant elements had taken several measures to extinguish the forest and land fires. This included utilizing the firefighting equipment available to both the Task Force and the local authorities.
